COVID-19 News from the Town of Bay Harbor Islands for July 30, 2021

Per the CDC, Miami-Dade County is experiencing a rise in cases of COVID-19, particularly the Delta Variant. This variant is extremely dangerous for our vulnerable populations, persons with weakened immune systems and children under the age of 12, as well as the unvaccinated.

Effective 11:59 PM Thursday, July 29, 2021 - for the safety and protection of our employees and residents, all persons - both visitors and employees of the Town - vaccinated or not, are required to wear masks covering their nose and mouth while inside any Town of Bay Harbor Islands facility, except while eating or drinking. Persons who are unable to wear a mask for any reason may not enter any Town-owned space. We will be happy to help you conduct your business by phone, email or via the Town's website, We also ask that you do not enter any Town building if you have been exposed to the virus or feel sick.

On Wednesday, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced that, following the newest CDC guidance, Miami-Dade County would requiring masks to be worn by employees and visitors inside all County facilities — vaccinated or not — and residents are strongly advised to wear masks in large crowds and enclosed spaces.

"We are extremely concerned about this new wave of COVID cases in Miami-Dade," Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said. "The numbers are very clear: the vast majority of those who end up in the hospital due to COVID are unvaccinated. We are calling on all those who are still unvaccinated to get the shot as soon as possible to protect themselves and their loved ones."

Due to these recent spikes in Covid-19 infections and hospitalizations, Miami-Dade County and Nomi Health aim to accommodate the increasing demand for services by adding additional testing and vaccination locations. The Town of Bay Harbor Islands' 95th Street Park has been selected to be one of these new sites. Beginning August 2, 2021, testing and vaccinations will be available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
