Mission Statement
The Building Department's duties are to enforce the local and state codes regarding the construction and maintenance of the buildings and structures in the Town. Such duties will be performed an impartial manner in order to provide for the health, safety and welfare of the residents of the Town of Bay Harbor Islands. Further, the Department strives to continually educate staff, the construction industry and our residents on current codes and procedures to better preserve the quality of life for our community.
A Building Permit is required for most types of construction work within the Town of Bay Harbor Islands. Please contact the Building Department for more information to determine which types of projects do or do not require a Building Permit.

Hours of Operation
Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Permissible Construction Hours (Town Code Section 12-26)
Construction hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (excluding holidays).
The following fines and penalties shall be imposed on violaters of this article.
* First Violation - $1,000.00
*Second Violation - $2,000.00 plus 8 hour Stop Work Order
*Third Violation - $3,000.00 plus 48 hour Stop Work Order
*Each subsequent violation - $5,000.00
No contractor work is permitted in the Town on Town recognized Holidays, Saturdays or Sundays, as per Town Code.
