The primary goal of the Bay Harbor Islands Marine Patrol Unit is to ensure the safety of those persons using the waterways surrounding the Town of Bay Harbor Islands, while also patrolling our coastlines to protect the residential and commercial properties located on land. Our Marine Patrol Officers are responsible for enforcing state and federal maritime regulations and statutes.
The Officers routinely conduct boater safety inspections and respond to distress calls in Biscayne Bay, the Intracostal Waterway, the Atlantic Ocean and Haulover Inlet. In an effort to reduce crime and enhance safety regionally, the BHIPD Marine Patrol Unit works in cooperation with other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in Miami-Dade County.
